Upgrades & Modifications
Tail spacers, Gyro Tray and Frame Saver all below !

Here are the parts that I will upgrade from the start.
I went for the metal mixer arms and flybar seasaw. With these, apart from the
blades grips, we have an all metal head. As for the spacers....
There are reports that the tail block comes loose after flying. The two parts have plastic spacers
between the two cases. These have 12 self tappers holding it to the frames.
I found the main mast bearings have the same size metal spacers thus
use 3mm cap head bolts to hold them to the frames with loctite.
Using the same for the tail will stop it coming loose.
Spaces are Pt No HN6018 see tail build for details.
-------------------Gyro Tray-------------------
I wanted to keep the gyro 'up front' and I know some builders have stuck the gyro onto the
two front servos and I know Align have a plastic gyro mount coming soon.

I made this little ali plate to hold the gyro. Easy to make and bend then add two 3mm holes.

Here is is fitted and the top lip stops it moving.
The half round cut out keeps the starter shaft away from the servos and their leads!

My plate droped down 7mm so to clear both servos as seen above.

Job done, extra screening for the gyros too !
---------------Frame Saver !!!---------------
I have read reports that after a nose in crash the canopy supports did not snap off, instead, the frame
broke where they were attached !
After removing the canopy mounts I fitted a rod, in this case a square ali bar
53.5mm long, drilled and tapped 3mm at each end. I inserted, with loc-tite, two long 3mm set
screws as seen above.
.
Align suggest to use a new shorter canopy mount (sold in a new support kit)
All I did was turn them down, saw would work too !

37.75mm just right, I ran a 2.5mm drill into the mounts to make sure they fitted Ok.

Next I ran a 3mm tap into the ends of the mounts and screwed them onto the studs.
This must stop the flexing sides ways of the GF canopy when fitting.
This extra support will save the frames I am sure, hope I won't be testing this modification !
